As a child, my mother sang this version of Eugene Field's Wynken, Blinken & Nod to my siblings and me. The lilting tune will put you to sleep if you fall asleep to music! It mimics the rocking of a boat, which is appropriate for this sea-based poem.
This was my firstborn son's favorite lullaby. I've sung it hundreds & hundreds of times! Here is my acapella lullaby version for you or your child.
This is also one of the poems in Ambleside Online's Year 2 curriculum (term 2: Eugene Field).
Enjoy!

Hi, Jen! I just wanted to tell you that Hada has been swaying back and forth and singing along to this song as it was playing! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteThat's adorable! I'm so glad she's enjoying it! If I haven't had the privilege of meeting her yet, at least she can enjoy my lullaby! :)
DeleteThanks so much for sharing! I'm on the Ambleside Year 0 group and saw your post. My kids and I have just been reading this poem this week for my daughter's Year 1 schooling, but I was having a hard time with the rhythm of the poem since it's my first exposure to it. I'm going to play this for my kids for school today!
